For Paradox, in 2008, I conducted research for The Last Days of Shishmaref. The project's heart is a feature length documentary by Dutch filmmaker Jan Louter (miroir film) and a series of photographic portraits of the village and its people by Dana Lixenberg. Paradox produced a website, photobook, traveling exhibition, and a educational traject.

Early 2008, I traveled to the United States, Alaska in particular. In museums, archives, and on the web I found historical film footage, old photographs of the village and its inhabitants, and conducted interviews with elders. Also, I arranged, in collaboration with Takashi Sakurai, Leonard Kamerling, and Angela Alston, a videoworkshop for six high school students of Shishmaref.

My writings on the history and culture of Inupiaq eskimo's and views of the images I collected and edited are to be found on the projects website.
